Thetford

The Norfolk market town of Thetford has a long and interesting history which includes a Celtic queen, a wealth of Roman treasures, a famous political figure, haunted buildings, a hugely popular television series and much more.

Today the town is probably most visited by people keen to enjoy Thetford Forest Park, which is Britain's biggest lowland pine forest and a nature lover's delight as well as offering a huge variety of activities to suit all tastes.

The Ancient House Museum is one of the three interesting collections of historic information and items in town and is part of the one time of house of an Indian Prince who made Thetford his home in the 18th century.

As this is a market town attending the regular market days is a great way to experience life in the ancient town centre while sampling great local products.

The town's population is around 22,000, with almost a third being Portuguese or of Portuguese descent. Access is easily obtained through the town's railway service or from the several main roads which lead here.
